This year for the Williams family vacation we decided that we needed to head someplace sunny and warm. After sharing different ideas we all finally decided on Maui! It was someplace that none of us has been before and we were all dying for the extra vitamin D!!
Before we headed over to the condo we decided that we would stop and get lunch. We stopped at Maui Tacos and I didn't realize that I was going to be having the best fish tacos. Maui Tacos is a little taco shop that was right across the street from our condo. The dish comes with two fish tacos, mexican rice and beans and chips! They also have a salsa bar with a bunch of different salsa options! Everyone should go here for lunch!

On our first full day there we let Megan take the rails and we headed out to see some really cool sites! We started by heading west on the island and our first stop was the Nakalele Blowhole. The blowhole is about a mile hike down, but you pass through some amazing lava rocks and get to see some amazing ocean views! After we watched the blowhole we headed back from the car and went to Honolua Bay to do some snorkeling. This was my first time snorkeling, but I felt like I was in the middle of Finding Nemo! It was a lot of fun!!
The next day we let Alisha guide us, so we headed over to Hana Highway! Hana Highway has 600 turns and 54 bridges, the majority of them being one lane bridges. Driving on this road is definitely an interesting experience. It is like mountain driving with crazy locals that don't want you on their roads. The best part of Hana Highway is all of the amazing stops. There quite a few waterfalls, caves and my favorite is Black Sand Beach. There are always a lot of people on the beach, but it is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen!!

To find more greenery on the island we headed over to Iao National Park! There are many different places to go at the park, but my favorite was climbing the 130 steps to the Iao Needle lookout. There is a little bit of everything at the park, there are waterfalls, a river and some trails that will take you to some amazing places!
There were many gorgeous sunsets in Maui, but this night was by far the best!!

There are a lot of places to eat in Maui, but everything you read says the same thing...eat at Mama's Fish House. Every review that you read says that it is expensive, but the food is worth it. Being a food blogger myself I knew that I was going to love this restaurant.
Mama's Fish House is a one of a kind place! The restaurant is set on the beach and everything is outdoors. All of the fish is caught and brought in daily, and the menu lists who caught your fish and where it was caught that day. If you are going to eat at Mama's Fish House you must have a reservation, don't try to make one the day of...you need to make the reservation a few days before you want to go.
Once you order your food they bring you out an asparagus soup, and at first I didn't know what to think, but the soup was amazing. I would've never of thought about asparagus soup, but it was delicious. Both of my sisters ordered the stuffed MahiMahi, which is the most popular item on the menu. The MahiMahi is stuffed with lobster, crab, maui onion and is baked in a macadamia nut crust.
Dad and I ordered the Bouillabaisse, which according to our waitress is typically only served on the winter menu, but the owner kept it on for the summer season. The Bouillabaisse has mahimahi, lobster, shrimp, scallops, shellfish, angel-hair pasta simmered in a tomato-saffron broth. I was kind of skeptical at first, but I am so glad that I ordered it! This was the most amazing seafood dish that I have ever had!
After the amazing dinner my sisters ordered some dessert. Megan ordered the Polynesian Black Pearl and Alisha ordered the Creme Brulee. Both dessert were amazing, but I didn't have much room to eat a lot of the desserts! This will definitely be a place that I go back to if I am in Maui again!
Since we had so much fun snorkeling the first time, we decided that we were going to Black Rock to snorkel. When we got to black rock we realized that there is no way that we can make it to the beach, so we decided to park and snorkel at the beach in front of the Westin. It was not as cool at Honolua Bay, but we still got to see a decent amount of fish!
Our last night in Maui we went to the Old Lahaina Luau. I know there are many different luaus on the island, but every book and review said that the Old Lahaina Luau is the best. This luau is different because it embraces the old Hawaiian traditions. One of the coolest parts of the luau is watching them unearth the pig! The process takes about five minutes, but it is something that you wouldn't see anywhere else!
The food is only half of the reason that this luau is the best! With a sold out show every night, they have definitely learned how to get everyone through the buffet line without having any backups. The best thing that I ate on the buffet was the pork! I realize that it is the featured item, but even being from the south, I haven't had pork that good ever! There are plenty of items on the buffet, but I definitely recommend the pork and the seafood salad!
After dinner is over that is when the show begins. The show is the history of Maui and I would really like to learn how to dance like they do. The different costumes and dances are a great way to end the evening!
If you are ever considering a trip to Hawaii, Maui is a must see!! If you go to Maui you should get the book Maui Revealed, it gives a lot of good advice about the best places to go in Maui!!
