I am one of those people who pride myself on being a very patient person, but recently I have started to think that maybe I am not as patient as I once thought I was. I first started to notice this when I put in for a specific job with a company that I am not going to name. I had all the right connections with this company so I thought that everything was going to be open and shut. After I had my first contact with the company I felt like everything was going to move quick, but it seems like everything right now is in a holding pattern.
With every other job that I have put in for it seemed like I sent my information and just left it up to them. But with this job it seems like I am checking e-mail and looking at my phone all the time. There were times when I was told that I would hear something by a certain day and when I didn't I would freak out. I would also have the same reaction when I sent my contact an e-mail and I never heard anything back. Every time this would happen Mom would look at me and tell me that I was inpatient and I would always argue back and tell her that she was wrong.
Today and friend of mine at work came over and asked me if I would like to read the March issue of Self Magazine. With having some down time at work I accepted and started going through the magazine. Not too far into reading I came across the Self Expression article and the title was "Hate to Wait?" Being intrigued by the article I began to read.
When I first started to read the article I thought to myself if this isn't me, but the more I read the more it was like looking into a mirror. So they had a few questions in the magazine to answer to see if you are considered to be impatient:
Q: Do you get upset when you have to wait?
A: My answer was it all depends on the situation. But most of the time I would have to answer yes.
Q: Do you feel pressure at the end of the workday?
A: No, I typically don't.
Q: Do you think about other things while listening to someone else talk?
A: Sadly I do.
Q: Do you become irritated when driving and end up swearing at others on the road?
A: Again, sadly I do.
Q: Do slow-moving incompetent clerks upset you?
A: My answer to this one is no, but that is because I have worked in customer service professions and I would not want to be treated that way, so I don't treat them that way.
My score wasn't as bad as the woman in the article, but I still can't say that it was the best. As I continued to read I found a quote that I have copied down for my own use, it is:
"Waiting with patience means actively accepting the current circumstances and giving up the illusion that you can control the world."
I have to say that I am glad that I got the chance to read this article. After reading this I decided that I am going to start practicing patience. So today is Day 1 and so far it is going well, let's see how this goes!

Rainy Day Art Project!
Today we did not live up to the "Sunshine State" nickname. So since it was a gloomy rainy day I decided that it would be a good day to do a little art project. I go the idea for this project from a blog that I was on not too long ago! It was a fun project and a good way to pass the day!
Here are the letters before I painted them.
I ended up liking the outcome of my project that I made it my new header for my blog!!

Ash Wednesday...
So today is Ash Wednesday which means it is the first day of Lent. I figured that this might be a good place to put down what all I am giving up for the next 40 days! Maybe if I write everything down here I will hold myself accountable!
Here is what I am giving up:
1. Potatoes - I am giving up anything that is going to be associated with potatoes. French Fries, Baked Potatoes, Mashed Potatoes, Hash Browns, Potato Chips, etc.
2. Sweets - I did this last year and I did stick to it, so this is going to be something that I am going to give up again. This year it might be a little tougher because I will be getting my Girl Scout Cookies after Lent starts.
3. Procrastination - As far as my work life I am on top of things, but as far as my house I don't always do things when I should. For example, I have a stack of clean clothes sitting on my desk that have been there for a few weeks. So hopefully if I can not procrastinate for 40 days it might carry over!
4. Laziness - Most days when I come home from work I eat lunch and then I take a nap. From now on when I get home I need to do a physical activity before I settle in for the day. If I decide that I am going to nap it has to be after my physical activity is done and for no more than an hour.
5. Large Portions and Second Helpings - I know that these are really two items, but they still fit in the same category. For the next 40 days I am going to eat smaller portions and I am not going to take second helpings, no matter how good the food is.
I think that these 5 things are going to be tough, but I believe that I can do them! I will update my progress as we go through these next 40 days!

Happy Valentine's Day!
So needless to say today was a very interesting Valentine's Day!! So let's start from the beginning...
After Mom and I got up we took Callie for a quick walk and then I came back and made breakfast. Since it was Valentine's Day and because Lent starts on Wednesday I figured that I would make one of Mom's favorite breakfast's so I made pigs in a blanket. When we make them we use the Hillshire Farm Lil' Smokies and then wrap them in Crescent Rolls and they are delicious!!
After we finished breakfast it was time to go get ready so we could get our errands ran before everyone decided that they wanted to be out and about. Well after I got out of the shower I was trying to get Mom to come upstairs so she could get ready, and this is where the inner blonde in me comes out, I fell down the stairs. Luckily for me I did not break anything, but I do have rug burn from me knee to my toes. After I fell I jumped up real quick and while my Mom is luaghing she asked me if I was okay. I told her yes, but she noticed that I kept looking down at my leg. She finally came around the corner and saw the damage that I had done to my leg! I am one of those people who when they hurt themselves they do it well!!
After we got my leg all bandgaged up we went out to Town Center, which is where everyone wanted to be and just enjoyed the cool weather and ran the errands that we needed to run. When we got back to the house Mom went and took a nap while I started to get things together for our Sunday night dinner!
Around 5ish Brandon showed up and he had two yellow roses in his hand, one for me and one for Mom! His Valentine's gifts were sitting on the table, because I used everyone's candy as part of the table decoration!

While Mom and Brandon did some work I started making our dinner. I made Julia Child's Chicken Breasts with Mushrooms in a Cream Port Sauce. The sacue didn't turn out the way it should of, but the dinner was still very good! For dessert Mom bought each of us a piece of Stefanie's Ultimate Red Velvet Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. The cake was amazing, but everything put together was a lot of food!!
All-in-all I had a good Valentine's Day! If you want to see how I made the dinner, you can check out my food blog: http://kwcooking.blogspot.com/
I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day!!
Saturday Night Valentine's Dinner with Mom!
As you might of read on my previous post, Mom and I went out on Saturday and did our Valentine's Dinner! I had an Outback gift card that I got for Christmas so we decided that we would use it for this dinner! When we got there we saw that they were running a Valentine's Special which happened to be perfect for us. They had what they called the "Sweetheart Special," it was a Bloomin Onion, two 8 oz. Outback Specials with your choice of two sides and to finish off the meal you split a piece of Cheesecake! It was delicious!!
Our Bloomin Onion! YUM!!
My House Salad with Ranch Dressing!
My Steak with Loaded Baked Potato!
Mom had her Steak with Broccoli!
Our Cheesecake with Raspberry Sauce!
After Dinner we went to the Avenue's Mall where Mom had to get my Valentine's Day present! This year I asked Mom for a very cute purse from The Limited and I even provided her with a coupon that would give her $15 off!
I had a lot of fun tonight with Mom, but I am very excited about cooking my Sunday night dinner tomorrow night!

Super Bowl Week!
We are having a cubicle decorating contest for the Super Bowl and I was very excited to be able to use my creative skills again! The last time I got to use my creative skills at work was when I did the Penguin pumpkin back in October! Since our motto at work for 2010 is to "Rock the Competition" we could either do something football related, but it had to be the teams that are playing, or we could do something with music. Well if you know me at all you know that I chose the football side!
I used a green table cloth and made it into a football field.
I couldn't choose just one
team, so I decided that I was going to use both teams.
This was a lot of fun and I love these opportunities at work! The judging is on Saturday so I will update when I find out the results!!
